Professor Ron Smyth began teaching at UTSC during the late 1980s when he was appointed in both Linguistics and Psychology. In addition, Prof. Smyth also acted in administrative roles on campus: Associate Chair of the Department of Humanities, several committees, and organizing Positive Space on campus. Prof. Smyth reflects upon campus culture, his approach to teaching, faculty relations, and administration. He also talks about his personal experience as a gay professor on campus, the LGBTQ+ community on campus and in Scarborough, and the changes in receptiveness of Positive Space since its beginning. Prof. Smyth is now at Emeritus status with UTSC.
