Description
This type of doll is known as Narodna Radinost. The women of the former Yugoslavia made them within the folk artwork cooperative called Narodna Radinost, which founded the Yugoslav socialist government. This cooperative created various folklore objects, such as embroidery, musical instruments, carpets, and dolls dressed in traditional attire from multiple regions. By then, Yugoslavia covered a vast territory in Europe, and when it disintegrated, it formed countries such as Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Slovenia. The Radinost dolls were then made from very distant places with a great variety of outfits, and today they represent the traditional costumes of various countries. In this case, the outfit that the doll wears corresponds to a Macedonian costume from the Skopska Blatija region, where historically, their outfits have been created with flax fibers, hemp, and sheep's wool. White, black, and red predominate in this suit, using embroidery techniques and upholstery fabrics.
